prayer and politics

September 9th, 2008

I don’t know much about Joel Hunter or his church, but his prayer at the Democratic National Convention demonstrated the difference between tolerance and respect.  He invited people to end the prayer they way they would end their own prayers.  This showed respect without condoning other faiths in the room.  He showed the difference between praying in a national, political venue vs. praying in his own church or any other evangelical church.

He lifted up the name of Jesus without expecting those who do not yet trust him to pretend to do the same thing.

Watch it below…

Thank you, Joel.
